Winter is here and it is officially protective style season! I'm trying something different this time around. Tired of the usual braids and twists I'm exploring natural hair extensions! HerGivenHair was sweet enough to gift me some of their beautiful kinky curly natural hair extensions! Just in time for protective style season !
When it comes to natural hair extensions the hardest part is deciding on a texture. It's hard enough trying to figure out our own texture! (Took me nearly 2 years to pin point mine but, don't judge me!) HerGivenHair offers cute little sample sets to help you answer all of those pre-installment questions. Making it super easy to find out which texture and length will work best for you! I found this to be this super helpful and used this to help me decide on the perfect texture and length! 2 Bundles 16" and 18" in Kinky!
Straight out of the Box ( which is super cute by the way ) the hair was beautiful! Super soft and smooth touch with the perfect amount of luster! The texture was truly kinky which is very much appreciated. The length of the hair held the 4C Zigzag pattern while the ends coiled up on its self in true 4B fashion. PERFECT JUST PERFECT!
My only problem with the hair was it's natural color. A minor issue, the original color of the hair was similar to 2B (Dark/Light brown) while my hair leans towards 1B (Dark brown/Black). I used SheaMoisture Hair Color System in Soft Black, which easily fixed the color issue. The hair took the color very well and still remained soft after the color. Afterwards, I Deep conditioned and detangled with Camille Rose Naturals Algae Renew Deep Conditioner. Before the wash the hair was a slightly tangled but once coated with my DC the tangles flew right out! I found the hair to be super easy to detangle ( way easier than my hair lol) with minimum shedding for 2 full bundles. Lastly, to seal in the moisture I coated the hair with my D.I.Y Hair Oil before wrapping it in a T-Shirt to dry overnight.
To install the hair I used 1.5 Bundles placing 16" at the bottom and layering 18" on top creating a heart shaped fro! I created a full wig leaving some of my hair out in the front to blend everything all together ! And this is the final result! It is pretty safe to say that I am in love with HerGivenHair! No manipulation just beautiful kinky fullness! I can not wait to style this hair! Check them out loves this makes an amazing protective style!
